General Sales Manager

Salary: £40,000 per annum with £70,000 OTE

Permanent, Full Time, Monday – Friday with Alternate Weekends

£40k Basic Salary with £70k OTE plus Company Car


We seek an experienced and energetic Sales Manager for our prestige Land Rover retailer in Hull. You will be a leader, accustomed to making decisions and the natural second in command to the Head of Business.

As a General Sales Manager working for the prestigious Land Rover brand, you will take accountability for the day to day running of our new & used car sales department including the delivery of sales volumes, margin and profitability targets.

Reporting to the Head of Business, you will lead the sales department in achieving the planned level of new and used sales for both the Company and the manufacturer. You will ensure the sales process is followed, leading to strong customer satisfaction and high maintenance of manufacturer standards. You will also maintain high presentation standards for both vehicles and display areas.

The successful candidate will lead by example and adopt a practical hands-on approach in running the department. You will ensure that your sales team are fully equipped to achieve their targets through effective training and coaching.


You should demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience managing a high achieving sales team
  • Commercial awareness and a good understanding of market trends & manufacturer initiatives
  • Experience working in a high volume fast paced environment
  • Experience working in a prestige retailer
  • Ability to Identify training and development needs within the team
  • Ability to develop a sales action plan and communicate targets effectively to the team

This role would be ideally suited to an experienced Sales Manager who is accustomed to the pressures of a high-volume environment whilst delivering the highest levels of customer satisfaction. This is not a position for a strategist or an administrator. We require a highly involved manager who will be working in a customer facing environment, being an integral part of the sales process, whilst at the same time coaching and guiding the sales force to constantly greater heights.
