Customer Announcement

The Hatfields name has been synonymous with those of Jaguar and Land Rover for as long as those two iconic brands have been making cars. We celebrated our centenary in 2022 and I write to you today to announce another landmark in the history of Hatfields.

On 1st October, the company will be acquired by the Lithia Motor Group. Lithia are an American organisation with a deep history of their own and in more recent times have been active in buying UK motor businesses, notably Pendragon PLC and the Jardine Motor Group. This is not a takeover in the normal manner though. The great appeal of Hatfields to Lithia is the unique approach and success we have in both customer satisfaction and as a business generally and the Hatfields name will remain and the brand will grow.

All the staff are staying with the business and I assure you that the transition will be seamless. I thank them and you the loyal customer base – the two bedrocks of any successful organisation – for the help and support over almost 40 years that I have managed this business.

I know that I leave Hatfields in the safest of hands, those same hands that have been delivering and have been recognised continually for providing the highest level of customer care and overall business strength. Lithia will invest in and develop this business in a way and at a pace that we couldn’t and the family business approach combined with the undoubted strength of a US listed company will be a winning formula for all I am sure.
